Paul Robeson: Tribute To An Artist / The Proud Valley

April 8 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

A celebration of Quaker-descendant Paul Robeson’s monumental 125th birthday with a screening of two of his most important films.

Join us on Saturday, 8 April at 1:00 PM ET for the finale of our film-festival forum as we celebrate the 125th birthday of Paul Robeson: revolutionary humanist, recording, film, theatrical, and music star, and descendant of over 200 years of Quaker ancestors. For this unique event we will be screening the 1978 short documentary Paul Robeson: Tribute to an Artist , narrated by film star Sidney Poitier, and The Proud Valley (1940), followed by a discussion between Robeson scholars Dr. Gerald Horne, Dr. Charles Musser, and Dr. Harold D. Weaver to mark this historic moment in the legacy of a beleaguered leader. Registerants will receive a link to join the Zoom webinar for this screening a day before the event.
